The meeting underscored Egypt's consistent and strategic approach to supporting Iraqi unity and stability while fostering deeper cooperation with all its components, including the autonomous Kurdistan Region.

The official reception highlighted the importance Egypt places on its relationship with Iraq as a whole and with the Kurdistan Region specifically, viewing it as a key partner within the federal Iraqi state.

During their talks, President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Barzani reviewed a wide range of issues of common interest. Central to the discussions was the broader regional situation, with an emphasis on the critical need to contain the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and to prevent its dangerous spillover, which threatens the security and stability of the entire Middle East.

On the bilateral front, the two leaders explored avenues to enhance cooperation across several vital sectors. Economic and investment opportunities were a primary focus, with discussions on increasing Egyptian corporate participation in reconstruction and development projects within the Kurdistan Region and Iraq at large. The fields of energy, infrastructure, and construction where Egyptian companies have significant expertise were identified as areas with high potential for collaboration.

Furthermore, the talks addressed strengthening security coordination in the face of shared challenges, as well as deepening cultural and people-to-people ties.

A significant part of the conversation reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering position regarding Iraq. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Iraq. He emphasized that Egypt stands with Iraq in its efforts to achieve comprehensive security and stability, which are fundamental prerequisites for development and prosperity for the entire Iraqi people.

This stance aligns with Egypt's long-standing diplomatic principle of supporting the legitimacy of federal institutions while maintaining strong, direct relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government, respecting Iraq's constitutional framework.

The meeting between President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Barzani is seen as a continuation of the strategic dialogue between Cairo and Erbil. It signals a mutual desire to elevate the partnership to a level that matches the historical ties and shared interests between the Egyptian people and the people of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Analysts view this engagement as part of Egypt's active and balanced regional diplomacy, which seeks to foster stability through dialogue and economic integration, positioning itself as a reliable mediator and partner for all Iraqi factions.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the talks and agreed to continue high-level consultations and follow up on the agreed-upon areas of cooperation in the coming period.
